Who is ella may?
Ella is an award-winning permanent make up technician, who is renowned for natural-looking, nano brows and microblading in Bristol, as well as lip blush and other specialist techniques, including ombre brows (also known as powder brows) and brow lamination.
Ella started her career in microblading with extensive training in Harley Street, London, with a top technician in semi-permanent makeup.
Since qualifying, she has gone on to train with industry leaders in the SPMU machine so she can offer treatments suited for all skin types. Ella has also gone on to train in other treatments and is fully qualified in brow lamination with Claudia Odey & HD brows.
Within the surrounds of her new treatment room, Ella is suitably located for clients across the south west of England, including Bristol and Bath, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Wiltshire and south Wales, such as Cardiff & Newport area.

Ella placed in the Top 3 for Machine Hairstroke Artist of the Year at the UK PMU Conference 2025. She is renowned for her hyperrealism nano brow technique, and now regularly provides training to help other artists to perfect their PMU skills too.
nano BROWS, Lip BLUSH & Microblading IN BRISTOL
Microblading
Microblading is a form of cosmetic tattooing that is done with a blade. The hand tool cosmetic tattooing method is a manual way of implanting pigment, creating fine, natural-looking hair strokes.
This is done using a manual hand piece to implant pigment and create fine hair strokes for a very natural effect. This effect is lovely for those with fine natural hairs or with areas of spareness. This look can be customised to each individual for the look you’d like.
nano BROWS
The nano (or hairstroke) brow technique uses a digital machine (rather than a manual tool, like microblading) with a single needle to implant natural nano hair strokes for a longer lasting and very natural brow effect.
Nano brows are more suited to those with more mature skin, due to it being gentler on the skin.
This technique can be used for creating additional definition and to blend areas with less natural hair, more shading can be added. This can be light and pixilated or a slightly bolder style.
Ombré brows
Ombre brows (also known as powdered brows) is a stunning technique, where you layer up shading to create a makeup/tint brow look. It’s lighter at the tops and fronts for a ombré effect, creating a similar look to that of powder makeup on brows (hence the alternative name “powdered brows”).
This can be super soft and pixelated to create a tinted effect or bolder to really define the brows.

Lip blush
With a similar technique to our hairstroke brows, lip blushing uses a specially designed cosmetic tattoo machine to allow us to gently deposit a subtle colour into your lips.
Through this, a variety of results can be achieved. However, lip blushing is generally used to accentuate your natural lips – giving you a 24/7 primed and defined look. Lip blushing gives a much more natural effect than the traditional ‘lip tattooing’ and the two shouldn’t be confused.
